Meet Our Teachers
Suzanne
Suzanne started teaching yoga in 2013 and is trained in a variety of styles and lineages to include Hatha, Vinyasa, Kundalini, Prenatal, Yin & Restorative. She is passionate about creating spaces and practices that are accessible to all individuals and abilities. Her classes are holistic and honor all facets of the yoga practice to include guided breath, meditation, postures, and deep relaxation. Suzanne has had the privilege of experiencing the healing qualities of yoga in her own life and is passionate about sharing the practice with others.
Kaitlin
Kaitlin joined a friend for her first hot power yoga class in 2017, and quickly fell in love with the practice. It’s challenging nature offered, for the first time, a way for her to get out of her head and into her body and represented the first time she committed to a movement practice. She noticed over time that showing up on her mat allowed her to better show up as a friend, a daughter, and a partner.
She completed her 200-hour teacher training with Humble Haven Yoga in 2020 and has been teaching around Richmond ever since. She’s passionate about creating an open and inclusive environment that encourages participants to have fun and feel curious about what they’re capable of doing.
Jennie Ray
Jennie Ray began her personal practice having suffered many injuries and non-elective surgeries. Her recovery was enhanced and knowledge of the true transformative power of yoga was realized. She is one of three Tier Two 750 Hour Baptiste Certified Educators in Virginia. She has also received 200 hour Certifications from Studio Bamboo Institute of Yoga (Va. Beach, VA) and Humble Haven Yoga (Richmond, VA).
The spirit of her classes can be found in physicality but also the “take it off the mat” challenges. You will meet your edge with safety and alignment in mind and be transformed in mind and spirit.
Jennie Ray’s life off of the mat includes a mini-Whoodle, Rayven, time with her 92 year old Mom and 8+ years of recovery from addiction.
Deirdre
Deirdre (De) has been an avid practitioner of yoga since 2014 and teaching since 2023. After years of dealing with sports-related injuries, De found that the physical practice of yoga challenged her in ways she never expected, while also providing a space for inquiry, growth, and community. De appreciates the balance yoga brings to her life and what it continually teaches her about her relationship with herself and with the world.
In her classes at Broad Yoga, you can expect an accessible practice that invites you to move with intention and explore what feels best in your body on that particular day. For experienced practitioners, those brand new to yoga, and everyone in between, De is excited to share her passion and curiosity, encouraging you to continue showing up and taking up space – on and off your mat.
Colleen
Colleen found yoga during COVID, completing her virtual teacher training when she was craving connection. She believes mind, body, and soul all work together—and that each deserves a little love and attention. Her classes blend gentle, slow movement with meditation and reflection so you leave feeling lighter. Colleen loves weaving humor and laughter into her teaching because she knows sometimes the best release is a good giggle. A believer that yoga is yoga no matter how you do it, she encourages everyone to show up just as they are. After moving from D.C. to Richmond five years ago, she’s happily made it home. Most of all, she loves building connections, friendships, and community—one deep breath (and laugh) at a time.
Kellye
Kellye began practicing yoga consistently in 2018. She recently completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Humble Haven in Richmond, VA. She is a mother, a nurse, and doctoral candidate whose work centers on healing, nervous system regulation, and embodied presence. Her goal is to create spaces where students feel safe, seen, and supported exactly as they are. Kellye believes yoga is not about performance, but about coming home to yourself. Through breath-led vinyasa flow, Kellye invites students to move with intention, curiosity, and self-trust.
Rachel
Rachel started practicing yoga in 2012 at Hot Yoga Richmond, formerly Bikram Yoga Richmond, and fell in love with the practice. Unbeknownst to her, that practice was the catalyst that fired her desire for wellness - a relationship she had been estranged from for far too long. One thing led to another and a few years later she began teaching indoor cycling and group fitness classes. In 2021, she landed at Humble Haven where she began her journey as a yoga teacher. Rachel has come to understand that the practice of yoga is so much more than the physical aspect. It's taught her how to sit with emotions and breathe through them rather than react to them.
Rachel blends intuitive movement with a light heart, and just enough silliness to remind you not to take yourself too seriously because JOY is a spiritual practice! The playlist is always a vibe and it ranges from mantra chanting to OutKast and Beyonce. Beneath the laughter and jokes, Rachel's mission is to share the impact of yoga and its ability to transform the way we live from inside out.
Emely
Emely began practicing yoga in 2013, soon after moving to Richmond. What began as simple curiosity quickly turned into something much deeper, she noticed a transformation not just in how she practiced on her mat, but also in the way she moved through life.
In 2019, Emely completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Humble Haven Yoga, and has been sharing the practice ever since. As a teacher, Emely’s intention is to create a space where students can connect deeply with themselves and cultivate a genuine sense of self-love. She wants to meet students where they are, offering compassionate guidance that supports growth.
Emely’s classes are energetic and playful, focused on alignment, connecting breath to movement, and building heat. She encourages students to explore their edge, challenging themselves while honoring their bodies, so they leave feeling stronger, lighter, and more connected.
Emely is so excited to meet you on the mat and share this practice together!
Cynthia
Cyn Nwarache is a holistic wellness facilitator with a background in somatic healing, cultural ritual, and community care. Her classes are inviting, grounding, and deeply restorative.
In her signature offering, Once Upon a Rest, students are guided through a weekly ritual of gentle movement, live sound healing, African proverb–inspired storytelling, and communal reflection. Expect steamed eye masks, ocean drum lullabies, and a collective journal where each class becomes a living story written by the group.
Whether you’re trying yoga for the first time or deepening your self-care practice, Cyn’s classes are a reminder that rest is not earned — it is a radical act of self-love.
Micha-Nicole
Born and raised in Michigan, Micha-Nicole first discovered yoga in 2013 while navigating the stress of intense science courses in college. What began as a way to balance her studies quickly became a transformative part of her life. Yoga has supported her through the good, the bad, the ugly, and everything in between, constantly reminding her that everything she needs begins and exists within.
In 2022, she completed her 200-hour teacher training at Zenyga Yoga Studios in Newport News, VA. Having experienced firsthand how deeply yoga impacted her life, she felt called to share that experience with others. For Micha-Nicole, yoga is a space for creativity, healing, and connection.
One of her favorite things to hear is, “I’m not flexible enough to do yoga.” Her response? “You only need to be flexible in your mind. If you’re breathing, you can do yoga.” She is committed to making her classes inclusive and safe for every body—no matter one’s shape, size, background, or experience level.
Her teaching style focuses on deep relaxation, encouraging students to slow down and truly feel their breath and movement within their bodies. In a fast-paced world full of noise and pressure, her hope is that each class provides the time and space to reconnect with oneself, one’s breath, and one’s inner peace.
Jordan
Born and raised in Richmond, Jordan started practicing mindfulness at a young age with her grandmother who regularly mediated in the mornings. Yoga was offered as a class in her high school, and she's been in love with the practice of both movement and mindfulness ever since. She gained her certification in 2019 and has been teaching regularly since. Her classes will provide space to ground, breathe and move our bodies in an accessible way, intended for all levels of practitioners.
She practices working on being present and connecting with her body through breath and movement. Her goal is to help facilitate a safe and accessible space for other people to do the same. The feeling of leaving a class so unbothered by the things we can't control or change, and allowing ourselves the space to forgive, heal, and grow can feel so freeing. To be able to provide that same feeling for other people fills her soul with such appreciation and respect for the practice, our breath, and our bodies. She strives to provide a space full of love and self-acceptance while empowering others to feel their best selves and be whoever they want to be.
